Fun fact: several former drivers have returned to wearing a suit and helmet on the occasion of the Historic Minardi Day. Among others, in 2017 Emanuele Pirro took the wheel of the Minardi M189 for the very first time, Gastón Mazzacane got back behind the wheel of ‘his’ Minardi M02, while Gian Carlo Minardi himself drove the M192-Lamborghini. In the 2018 edition, the then Mercedes AMG F1 Technical Director, Aldo Costa, took the Mercedes W04 to the track. In 2020, Riccardo Patrese warmed the hearts of many fans by returning behind the wheel of “his” 1991 Williams FW14.

In 2023 and 2024, Thierry Boutsen thrilled the crowd by taking to the track at the wheel of the Ferrari 312 T5 #2, formerly driven by Gilles Villeneuve, and Alain Prost’s McLaren MP4/03 No. 1. Engineer Gabriele Tredozi was at the wheel of the Minardi PS04B, while Eng Aldo Costa took the wheel of the Dallara Stradale EXP, joined by rally world champion Miki Biasion. Gianni Morbidelli drove Pierluigi Martini’s Minardi M189, while Miguel Angel Guerra got behind the wheel of the March 761 once driven by Vittorio Brambilla, alternating with Roberto Farneti. In addition to making his debut at the wheel of a Minardi single-seater, the M189, Arturo Merzario returned to drive the Lucchini Alfa Romeo (Scuderia del Portello), while Bruno Giacomelli was back at the controls of the BMW-powered March 772 F2. Pierluigi Martini will, as always, be present on track, accompanied by his Minardi M189, the perfectly restored Tyrrell P34/02 and P34/05, the Ralt RT30 Ford-Cosworth, and Michele Alboreto’s 1986 Ferrari 126 C4.
