SECOND ROUND IN IMOLA FOR THE ACI RACING WEEKEND. ELEVEN RACES ON THE SCHEDULE, SPOTLIGHT ON THE ITALIAN GRAN TURISMO CHAMPIONSHIP

An unmissable sporting spectacle this weekend for the final racing event of the 2025 calendar at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit. The second round of the ACI Racing Weekend kicks off, featuring the Italian GT Sprint Championship, Italian Sport Prototypes Championship, Italian Historic Car Racing Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, Topjet Formula 2000, and Porsche Taycan Cup categories.

The Italian GT Championship enters its decisive phase with the third and penultimate round of the Sprint series. A total of 57 crews are entered across the two classes, GT3 and GT Cup. In GT3, the battle for the overall title resumes between the protagonists of the first two rounds. With just a two-point lead, Frassineti–Liberati (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 – VSR), leading with 58 points, top the standings ahead of Klingmann–Krohn (BMW M4 GT3 – BMW Italia/Ceccato Racing). Further behind, but still very much in contention, are brand-mates Caglioni–Alatalo, currently third with 35 points and leading the GT3 PRO-AM subclass.

There are as many as 35 crews entered in the GT Cup. The 1st Division features standings that are still very tight. In the PRO-AM, four crews are separated by just 10 points, with the championship leader Ferdinando D’Auria (HC Racing Division) ahead by only one point over cousins Giacomo and Matteo Pollini, followed by Fontana–Mainetti (Target Racing) at +4, and Viglietti–Iannello (DL Racing) at +10. 2nd Division: in the PRO-AM, with three Porsche crews separated by 11 points, Flavio Olivieri (Raptor Engineering) leads, two points ahead of Stifter–Martinelli representing Racevent, a team that also fields a second car for Stefanin–Laurini, who are competing for the AM title.

Fifth and penultimate round of the Sports Prototypes Championship. Simone Bianco (Avelon Formula) enters as the leader with 112 points. The driver from Brianza dominated the first part of the season, claiming four victories in the first six races. Behind him, 36 points adrift, is reigning champion Davide Uboldi, who is hunting for his first victory of the season. Bianco could secure the championship one round early if he manages to extend his lead from 36 to 43 points over his pursuers.

The Italian Historic Car Championship arrives in Imola for its fourth round of the season. In the 1st Group, the overall standings are led by Marco Guerra and Franco Mischis in their Alfa Romeo, followed closely by Giovanni Putelli’s Lotus Elan and Massimo Pucci’s Mini Marcos 1300 GT. In the 2nd Group, the pace is set by the crew of Domiziano and Steven Giacon in their Alfa Romeo GTV 2000. Behind them, the battle remains tight, with Lorenzo and Fabrizio Lelli in the Alfa Romeo GTAm, Albergo Bergamaschi in the GTV 2000—tied in the standings with Pietro Corazzari in the Ford Escort RS. The 3rd Group sees the Porsche 935 of Massimo Ronconi and Giovanni Gulinelli firmly in the lead, chased by Lorenzo Moramarco’s Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV and the Alfa Romeo GT 1.6 of Massimo Guerra and Giovanni Serio. Finally, in the 4th Grouping, the battle is fierce: at the top, level on points, are Marco Maranelli’s Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and Vito Truglia’s TVR Tuscan Speed 8GT, often shared with Gilles Giovannini. Close behind, with narrow margins, is Riccardo Messa’s Renault Alpine V6.

The Carrera Cup Italia arrives at Imola for the fourth round, with the Porsche one-make series hitting the heart of the season with a grid of 32 drivers. The reigning champion, South African Keagan Masters (Q8 Hi Perform), is the one to beat, having so far delivered an outstanding season with 103 points, including two victories, each accompanied by pole positions and fastest laps The South African has built a significant lead over the German Alexander Tauscher, who is second with 82 points. Tauscher dominated the first two races of the season but missed the two rounds at Vallelunga. Expected to make a winning move, Giorgio Amati will also be at Imola. Third in the standings with 76 points and consistently scoring, yet still without a victory, he is ahead of the Frenchman Marvin Klein, who has moved up to 72 points.

Rounding out the schedule are the Topjet Formula 2000 and Porsche Taycan Cup categories, for a total of eleven races across Saturday and Sunday.
