Nel 1981 nacque a Imola il Gran Premio di San Marino e l’Italia iniziò così ad ospitare ogni anno due prove del Campionato Mondiale di F1: il GP di San Marino a Imola in primavera e il GP d’Italia a Monza in settembre.
